1381 Clerk (half-time) – Administrative Services
Location: Central Library

Position Open June 10, 2013

Summary
Under general direction, performs routine clerical tasks; types from a variety of sources; greets and serves library patrons; does related work as required. This position is twenty (20) hours per week, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs receptionist duties in library business office.
  • Answers telephones and redirects calls.
  • Performs routine updates to library and community websites.
  • Enters data into mailing lists and online calendars.
  • Completes word processing assignments for a variety of administrative staff.
  • Performs office filing tasks.
  • Processes bulk mailings.
  • Handles meeting room applications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Skill in operating office equipment such as computer, typewriter, fax, copier, calculator, and telephone system.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service both in person and on the telephone.
  • Ability to interpret and apply library policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
  • Ability to spell, use correct grammar, and make simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to type 30 wpm.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to be able to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient vision to be able to produce and review a wide variety of reports and related materials in both electronic and hard copy form.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to access relevant library materials and operate a keyboard.
  • Sufficient mobility to be able to transport materials and equipment.
  • Ability to stoop, reach, and push well enough to operate a wheeled cart.

Education and Experience
Graduation from high school. Supplementary training at a business school or
college is preferred. Prior office experience is desired.

Salary
$13,562
