1381 Clerk (half-time) – Administrative Services
Location: Central Library

Summary
Under general direction, performs routine clerical tasks; types from a variety of sources; greets and serves library patrons; does related work as required. This position is twenty (20) hours per week, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Essential Job Functions
Performs receptionist duties in library business office.
Answers telephones and redirects calls.
Performs routine updates to library and community websites.
Enters data into mailing lists and online calendars.
Completes word processing assignments for a variety of administrative staff.
Performs office filing tasks.
Processes bulk mailings.
Handles meeting room applications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
Skill in operating office equipment such as computer, typewriter, fax, copier, calculator, and telephone system.
Ability to provide outstanding customer service both in person and on the telephone.
Ability to interpret and apply library policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
Ability to spell, use correct grammar, and make simple mathematical calculations.
Ability to type 30 wpm.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Essential Physical Abilities
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to be able to communicate effectively.
Sufficient vision to be able to produce and review a wide variety of reports and related materials in both electronic and hard copy form.
Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to access relevant library materials and operate a keyboard.
Sufficient mobility to be able to transport materials and equipment.
Ability to stoop, reach, and push well enough to operate a wheeled cart.
Education and Experience
Graduation from high school. Supplementary training at a business school or
college is preferred. Prior office experience is desired.
